It was a great trip. if you're thinking of going to The Grand Canyon, I'd recommend considering southern Utah (Moab) instead. Lots more to see, do, and eat.

Sounds like you went during the summer months, unless she just plain doesn't like desert landscapes; or all the driving. We drove 1500mi in four days. Record is still 1800 on Washington/Oregon trip, but that was a week..
The cop that pulled us over during our first hour in Utah (no pics) mentioned this was the best time of year to go.
