The Hillbilly Picnic Wagon
The Hillbilly Picnic Wagon made its first trip beyond local lakes, from KY to MD, about 700 miles round trip. Turned a lot of heads.
We rented a small mansion on Deep Creek Lake, MD for the long weekend. Aside from the house & dock being filled with thirty in-laws, it was pretty close to perfect... At $1500 per night, it probably should be.
The Stinkpots were brutal out in the open. There was only one ramp (that we know of) on the opposite end of the lake (about 3mi), with a low bridge in the middle. Had to drop, putt under, and raise. This mast usually steps easy, but I got a lesson in doing it with pounding stinkpot surf. "Cussing like a sailor" has real meaning to me now. Next year I'm taking video cam & tripod on the trek to & from ramp.
The area near the house was nice & quiet for the most part. Not much wind.

Nice pics and although no wind weather sure looks nice for a time at the lake. Yeah quite the house there. There are only a few of my wifes relatives that I like to spend some time with and thank goodnes her family aint quite that big.
You'll have to educate me on the use of the term 'stinkpot'!? When I have used that term it is typically in reference to a rugrat or my daughter when she was little. Same here? not sure since you were talking about being out in the middle of the lake.
And if that truck is your idea of a hillbilly picnic wagon, then I am not sure what to call some of the past trucks I have driven like the 58 IH 1/2 ton with boards in where the pan metal floor should be. ;-))
Sounds like you had a good time. Its the trip home I always dread, seems to take longer getting home than it does when you are going on vacation.
And I had to look twice in those pics to see you Pete ... forgot you cut off all your hair!

Stinkpots in this case is a derogative term against noisy motor boats that make big waves. I'm well versed in your definition as well. One of the beauties of sailing is it's dead silent and doesn't cost gas. I ran the lil girl through 4ft surf, not pictured. Chris (aka Bosslady) took all of these pics, didn't want any part of the sail through the deep end to & from boat ramp. It sounds like we're going back next year, I hope to demonstrate a little more clearly then.
